At one stage, taking inspiration from Kraftwerks 'Boing boom tschak':

I decided to try and create a human beatbox using samples of my voice. The little airing cupboard looked like a good place to record vocals as it is full of sound absorbing duvets and blankets which makes it acoustically dry. After I had recorded myself making some drum and percussion noises I edited them and loaded them into Ultrabeat to trigger them from their. I also experimented altering the time and pitch of the samples using Logics flex mode and routing them to different outputs so I could try different effects on each sample. In the end I decided not to use any of it in the track!
Photo coming soon Can't find my usb lead for my camera phone :o(
In the meantime here's a temproary photo.

Creating the sounds.
Autobahn was created using mainly Analogue synths. I have set about using a Nova Novation analog sound modelling synth which is a 90's version of the kind of synths they used at the time. Also the ES1 and 2 subtractive analog type synths in Logic. I have also used the ExS24 sampler to trigger samples created from audio that I have recorded into logic using the Nova. Specifically the car noise.
Doing it the hard way. Making sounds from scratch. 9th May 2010
After spending a lot of time thinking about what direction to take the remix. I've decided to base the theme of the track almost entirely on Kraftwerk's 'Autobahn'. Rather than take a bunch of samples from the track, I've decided to do it the hard way and try and recreate the sounds the best I can from scratch.

Fun, fun, fun emulating the Autobahn!!
I'm at the stage now where I have a drum track and have lined up some of the vocals (again using flex mode markers to reposition parts of the audio) to fit in time with.
The way I'm approching the mix is to try out ideas as they come to me and see how they work in the track. I have no pre planned structure or composistion.
I've decided to try and recreate some parts from Kraftwerk's Autobahn. I like the bit where Kraftwerk have created the sound of cars travelling along the Autobahn using their synthesisers.
I've made a video of my efforts which can be viewed in my next post!

Black Eyed Peas Remix
29/4/2010
A change a of direction from my original proposal, I felt a remix of 'Numbers' by Kraftwerk using the production style of the Black eyed peas wasn't such a good idea after all.
I have now decided to take a bit of a easier route for myself and remix the track Boom Boom Pow by the Black eyed peas in the production style of Conny Plank/ Kraftwerk!
I'm a fan of Kraftwerk so familiar with their work
The first thing I did was to search the internet to see if I could find any stems by BEP's to download.
I coulden't find any stems but fortunately managed to find an Accapella of Boom Boom Pow.
Next, I thought about the Drum track. Kraftwerk have some great rhythms and sounds in their tracks.
I thought about trying to recreate the sounds and rhythms myself and also try fitting some samples of Kraftwerk in to track.
After deciding on the samples I wanted to use I imported these along with the accapella in to Logic.
I 'cut 'segments from the Kraftwerk tracks 'tour de france' and 'numbers' and edited them to create two rhythm loops dragging the end of the regions to create copies.
Using the flex-mode in logic I 'stretched' the regions to alter the timing of the audio to match the tempo. Also moving segments of the samples by creating flex markers which allow you to reposition parts of the audio material.
